Hi mendrak,

You could union them to make them part of the same object, then weld the
verticies to create a solid object.

I was working on a plugin to convert nurbs to poly, keeping it all quads
by converting the control points or cage points (user choice) to
verticies in a new polygonal object. I'm probably not going to have time
to fix the bugs so I might just post what I have and make it open source.
