TSML Closing 2005-04-28 - By John Gaubatz
Back Unfortunately, I am. I am responsible for mechanical design of different types of electronic hand wands (remote controls) and enclosures. When dealing with vendors, the disclosure is matter of fact, and it is stated as such. But when collaborating with others, there is no guarantee to the disclosure, so I don't send model data, only drawings. Collaborating with co-workers behind a company firewall is totally different than collaborating through a forum, which is what I believe your message indicated. Don't get me wrong here, many people will embrace your new technology just as they have embraced the forums. However, the point I have been trying to make that is being glossed over is other companies apparently place a high value for multiple avenues of collaboration. I am not saying that you don't value that. And Dave's data on the usage of the TSML indicates a decreased usage, but like it was pointed out earlier, advertisement or the lack of affects the product. I understand my viewpoints alone won't change company decision making, but I just want my opinon to be heard, as others on this list are doing.

John,
Are you the only 3D guy in your company? What if you could collaborate with your co-workers securely behind your company firewall?

Sorry Roman, I don't share my models at work without a disclosure agreement, and I certainly wouldn't share my models in a 3D collaborative forum as you suggest. No offense intended. If someone is having problems with their model, can they not email the file to norm for review? I hope this collaboration effort is not the reason for the lengthy delay in releasing tS7. This new feature will not be of benefit to me. Merging the forum and tsml as I indicated in my earlier post would be a more effective collaborative effort. ;)

So someone reads TSML on Treo 650, cool!
Anyway the whole point of TS7 real time 3D collaboration capabilities is to create a new and even stronger sense of community where you guys can comment on and even correct each others models INSIDE TS7 shared real time space and where beginners can SHOW Norm the problem they have rather describe them in e-mail or on the phone. What do you say?
