So someone reads TSML on Treo 650, cool!

Anyway the whole point of TS7 real time 3D collaboration capabilities is to
create a new and even stronger sense of community where you guys can comment on
and even correct each others models INSIDE TS7 shared real time space and where
beginners can SHOW Norm the problem they have rather describe them in e-mail or
on the phone. What do you say?

Subject: Re: [TSML] TSML Closing

As a fellow lurker here, I'll throw my opinion into the ether as well...

It seems to me that for the most part, the TSML has (at least since I've
been on it (several years?)) been a community of more
experienced/dedicated tSers.  For my part, I would like to see the TSML
live on forever because I prefer the format and the responsiveness that
the format fosters.  I am a member of other mailing lists where the list
is bustling with activity of the elite userbase.  The simple fact is
that professionals don't have time to search through forums, and the
mailing list offers them almost instantaneous community support. By
having open problems and discussions DELIVERED to the userbase, they are
much more likely to respond.  Case in point, I (consider myself a
seasoned tSer) used to haunt the forums and try to help people solve
problems, but I just don't have the time or patience to do that anymore...

So, to me it's all about the amount of time it takes me to stay abreast
of tS/community.  This list has been dead for longer than what could
reasonably be explained by "the holidays", or "school finals", or
whatever...  The bottom line seems to be that a lot of the elite tS
userbase has gone or shifted.  No one pushes the TSML anymore, in fact,
if you were to do a poll of tS forum users, how many would even know
that this list exists (even though it's listed on the navigation bar)?
My advice to Caligari is that when the new forum goes on-line, they
should re-introduce the TSML as well - maybe re-brand it or something.
With the promise of tS7's real-time remote collaboration and
interactivity, I can see the TSML as a good place to push those
relationships, simply because the TSML seems so much less anonymous than
the forums.  Also, with gadgetry almost at the point (another couple of
years) where a majority of techy people will have 24/7 access to email
(like smart phones with email (Treo 650, etc.)), a mailing list is much
more digestible than browsing a forum.

Anyway, that was more like a couple dollars rather than 2 cents, but
keep the change...

Cheers,
Heath

(Long live the TSML)
