Character modeling 2005-03-10 - By RorrKonn
Back MessageChrome was modeled with the "polygon draw tool" and the "add edge tool". http://www.atomic-3 (See http://mic-3.ora-code.com)d.com/RK_Tutorial/RK_TS_Polygon-Draw.htm its how I learned to model in ts4 most of ts6 tools I don't know. I use the sweep tool alot also.
I had to follow other app tutorials cause there where few for TS. I didn't read the direction just looked at the .jpgs topology.
most apps use "Loops" that's how there make there meshes in there tutorials. LW calls it bandsaw. C4D has a Knife tool with loops as a choose. C4D Calls Sweep Extrude. so if ya see these terms in tutorals ya know what there talking about.
to get the idea of loops in TS "polygon slice" "slice object buy selected line/plane" loops don't actually slice the mesh into thou.
I have a certain style of modeling with polygons use very few tools. TS Sweep, polygon draw, add edge tool. C4D Loop, stitch n sew, extrude.edge weights. Can model anything for humans to cars to what every rather fast.
once u get u a style u can look at at .jpg and know how to make it.

Hi, I changed the subject because I didn't want to hijack Allan's thread. Thanks for the advice. I took a look at the Joan of Arc tutorial when you mentioned it before. Very nice, and I started it, but then I went back to subdivision surfaces for a while, because I found it a little bit easier. For Joan, he's using some other program. A mere beginner first has to figure out how to reproduce those steps in trueSpace. But I'll definitely continue there, where I left off, if my SS head fails. You have some very helpful links listed there. I'm still picking through them. :-) Linus
