Cloth animation for games - HELP!

Cloth animation for games - HELP!

Hey everyone.. I'm beating my head against a wall here. I'm trying to
simulate a cape animation to be used in a game engine, but can't seem to
find a good system for doing it and making it look good.
I tried cloth, and while it looks good we can't have morph targets for
THAT many frames (data sizes are insane).
Currently I'm working w/softbodies on an IK spline setup and while it
works, it simulates more of a rubberband look than a cloth look. I was
wondering if anyone has tried to do this and succeeded?
Basically the problem I have w/the softbody solution is that the
particles tend to lag behind too far... is there anyway to make the
particles stay REALLY close to their current position yet have animation
to them?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
