AMS (or How I spent my Christmas Vacation) 2005-01-07 - By David Angelini
Back All,
I just wanted to share some of my latest WIPs. What is interesting is that this scene has been an "on-again/off-again" project for literally the past 3 years. There has been more work put into this single scene than on any other that I have worked on, and a great majority of that work was thrown away only to start over again.
In fact, pretty much everything was redone once again over the Christmas week break in what I could only call a severe case of AMS - Addictive Modelling Syndrome.
Finally what made it in the final cut is below:

And some detail shots:

Though even with these WIP's, I realize that some of the textures somehow got inappropriately mapped and need to be redone and the lighting could be tweaked a bit, but for the most part, the modelling is 98% completed (if you have AMS, it never really is completed after all ;-).
Some previous posts indicated that I was trying to load tS models into MAX to use the Greeble modifiier....the intent was to add some of the background detail that you see......
...well that approach was not satisfactory to me so this is all tS!!! And not one plugin was used. If finally dawned on me that the geometry paint function is the greatest tool ever made for sci-fi modelling!!!! For some reason I only thought it was good for painting trees on landscapes, but it has way many more uses than that and is very powerful. If it was not for that tool, this WIP would go on without ever being completed.
I hope you like it.....as for me, I need to find a support group that deals with AMS sufferers such as myself.
Thanks, Dave Angelini
