Simple Symmetry

Simple Symmetry

Hi all,

That is what the Mirror Modeller tool does though. You can select an object,
select the face to mirror on (must have coplanar vertices to avoid wiggles
and gaps), select one side and adjust, and the mirror side will follow the
alterations in realtime. You can apply SDS to one side, the mirror side gets
SDS applied (unless you deactivate that in the Mirror Modeler options). Keep
adjusting, and see the changes to both sides in realtime. To simulate the
weld, be sure to use Erase Mirror Plane Polygons.

The problem mentioned sounds like the face being used to mirror may not have
had coplanar vertices (ie wasn't flat), which would result in oddities at
the join (but it would with trueMirror etc).

HTH!

Subject: Re: [TSML] Simple Symmetry

Hi Don,

I too had this question a while ago, coming from a 3dsMax background I
had assumed that the SS mod would work the same as the symmetry modifier
in max, but alas it doesn't.  The one I use is the trueMirror, from
www.primitiveitch.com and it will once used copy the alterations on the
one side to the other, then weld and it will all be good to go.

I use tS5.2 though and the page says that it is only for  4 and 5 but
there is a trial to see if it will work for you

Subject: [TSML] Simple Symmetry

OK, now I feel like a jerk, I took simple symmetry from my TS5 disc and
found it
doesnt work in TS6.6! So Im back to my original question, how do I get
mirror
to accomplish what simple symmetry does!

Thanks
Don Rhodes
