TS7 Renderers

Apart from the price, can anyone speak to the ability of these
programs/companies/user communities when dealing with newbies?  Are they
patient and tolerant of simple newbie questions or do they just respond
with "This is a professional forum.  RTFM!!!".

There is an educational discount on XSI Advanced of $295 (that is not
the discount, but the final price) and as my wife is a teacher, I think
we could qualify.  But as cheap as this, I am not willing to jump for
the simple reason that I really think you would lose something that is
unique to tS which goes beyond the program itself...the support of the
same people year after year (whether they work for Caligari or not).

It would be like leaving the town you grew up in and moving to the big
city.

Thanks,
Dave Angelini

If the price of TS goes up, it will really lose out against programs
like XSI, that have shown you can keep an apps price low, and still
remain a solid application for high-end professionals.
