Ghost Bones in Carrara 3?

Ghost Bones in Carrara 3?

I'm creating a poseable tree. I've vertex-modeled a generic branch/root that I
've duplicated to
create root and branch systems at the respective ends of a kind-of cylinder
trunk. I've welded
all the branches and roots to the trunk, so all this constitutes one polymesh.

Now, I've added a first bone pattern to one branch of the tree. Everything
works fine fort that
specific branch. I can pose it with acceptable accuracy. But, there's a weird
(to me)
phenomenon. Some bones displacement trigger a synchronized movement, although
of a
lesser amplitude, in one of the roots!

I'm absolutely positive that there is no linked bone in that root. There'no
bone there, period.
I'm just starting to build the skeleton and it's limited to one branch only for
now.

I've tried seeing if the bones' influence could reach that far, but it doesn't.
It's really limited to
the immediately surrounding vertices. Or is it? (Thrilling musical accent here)
