Hi Doug,

The intent wasn't to simulate actual clay - the aim was to replicate the
rendering technique used by "higher end" apps like Maya and Max as seen
in WIP threads on sites like cgtalk.com.  I've heard the look referred
to as a "clay render", so that's why the word clay is in quotes in the
subject header.

Sorry for the confusion.

Glen

I think your models look very realistic as clay....but could be more
convincing if the surroundings/background/floor did not also look like
clay; need the contrast in textural look to make it more realistic (if
that is your goal) to the viewer.  I've seen lots of real cars in
clay...usually not gray but more brownish-orange unless "painted" for
"body in white" look. Regardless, maybe a wood textured floor or painted
concrete or???

Maybe search via Google for some sample images to get ideas for floors
and backgrounds. Often bodies were made longitudinally in half with a
mirror to complete the effect of a whole vehicle. Also helps (like for
architecture too) to have a model person to show scale/height.
