Heh. Now I liked Riddlemaster of Hed. Her later books are even more
dreamlike and less straightforward - rather like Miazaki's views. She also
writes very visual, gorgeous stories which I like. In another author I
might get bored quickly though, like Tad "Treekiller" Williams' massive
tomes. He's got several good books jammed into that monster set he's
churned out about cyberspace. One of the very few I put down and never
picked back up.
Thanks for the movie suggestions; I'll have to look for them.
