Thanks for the input. You might want to check out the Pro version of
Toon for Carrara, if you haven't already. It supports a bunch of features
not included as part of the default Toon renderer built into Carrara, such
as anti-aliasing. Also, it applies itself as a texture/lighting effect instead
of the post-processing method used for the default Toon engine.

Here's one of my older anime-styled models I rendered using Toon Pro:

I imagine a happy medium between Toon Pro and your texturing/post
production methods could turn out some pretty convince cel/manga
style artwork.
