Hi, Glen
Here are my recommendations:
1. Things to change in the render room from the default settings.
AntiAliasing: Good Object Accuracy: 2 pixels Shadow accurary: 2 pixels
Use "Sky Light: default intensity 100% or 90%
Lighting Quality: Good or Excellent Accuracy: 4 Pixels.
2. Assemble room stuff: Turn all lights OFF.
Scene "Background:" make the background color a dirty white. It is background color that will illuminate your scene to give it that Clay effect.
Your object texture colors should be some what grey.
that should do it.
if you need it I have a "CAR" file that I can upload so you can see my setting.
Hope this helps.
Ringo

Ringo, here's a link to a thread someone's doing (not me) on CGTalk.com: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=246910&page=1 That's the kind of look I'm going for (if you can see my pic, you can tell I'm not there yet) :)
Thanks,
Glen
