Academic app, to help teach low poly / game modelling 2005-06-24 - By mal_cando
Back Hi there,
I'm working on an academic tool to assist with teaching 3D modelling to students.
You can see some examples ( using Shockwave ) of their work here... http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car/levels/jordanstown.html
I have recently added Cararra support for the app ( using the Shockwave 3D exporter ), as part of getting ready for a competition we are about to run. There will be a separate Cararra section for choosing the top level etc.
The competition will use a free evaluation version, which you can download right now ( and that contains a sample .car Cararra level, thanks to Jer Shoot for converting it! ) here... http://www.candointeractive.com/gamedesign/car
If you get a chance to try out the app, please let me know how you found it to use etc.
Best regards... Mal
BTW if you have an existing scene, to get it working with the app, make a box ( called carStart ), place it in the proper position, scale it to approximately the correct size of the required vehicle, and export it as Shockwave 3D over gamelevel.w3d in the main folder ( see the Docs ). Run the .EXE ( or .HTM if you are on the Mac ), and you'll be able to drive around your level. Enjoy!
