I like Patrick's idea too, have an actual Corvette right there, real live in
front of you. Does anyone have a real Corvette they could send me so I can
use it as a reference? The project shouldn't take me more than ten years or
so to complete. :p

If i really need reference material for car model, i always buy a
plastic scale model. You know those you build yourself?

They come with blueprints and you can also study the different parts
in your hands before building it. It helps to get the details just
right. Also the interior is often much easier to build when you can
access the different parts separately.

While you study and assemble the model, you can also model the parts
in carrara and assemble and texture them. You will propably end up
with most realistic model you've ever built. Added bonus is, that
your model is made of separate pieces and the assembly can be
animated if necessary. The physical model might help getting things
just right. I mean, reading the drawings right is a skill that you
learn and a model you can touch and turn is really helpful in that
even though you might not want to model the car as separate parts.
