Bonjour Brian,
With a proper XSLT definition, one can translate any XML syntax into any
other XML syntax.
So yes it is possible in theory -and this is one of the main
advantages of xml- but :
- due to entropy, XSLT does not produces more information than its
input : if toxic needs some information that is not contained in the
Carrara file, there is no transformation possible to recreate them.
- not all CarraMel output is pur XML. CarraMel translate some datas
(such as mesh description) as CDATA, that is just plain Carrara
garbage passed straight from Carrara to an encapsulated XML element.
If this garbage is one of the three Toxic mesh format accepted by
Toxic (.obj, .ase and .tri) then that should be OK. You should check with Eovia
for that info. I don't knwo what this garbage is, as far as I am
concerned. Maybe pure proprietary ?
What do you think the Toxic renderer has that the Carrara one has not,
out of curiosity ?
