If you really think about it, the future of the whole video game
industry was in our parent's hands.  I mean, what happened if they
*did* see it as complete mindless entertainment and decided to not let
their children have these systems in the home?  Hey, the kids of today
need to be thanking us for somehow convincing our folks that seeing a
white blips going back and forth across a black screen was
constructive entertainment! :)

And yes, I *do* remember when I got my first color TV.  Before that,
all the Japanese animated cartoons such as Speed Racer, Kimba, The
Amazing Three, etc. had to be viewed in black and white (some were
actually produced IN b+w). The kids today call this style of
animation, "Manga", but this form of cartooning is really based on an
"old-school" formula and has been around for decades.  My nephew
thinks he and his buds discovered it. ;)
