Wintel is now Mintel?

I don't think Xbox is much of a concern.  The xbox will use a triple core
processor, not something you generally see on the desktop side.  I just wonder
how sweet of a deal they are getting from Intel?  Personally, I think they
should have used AMD processors.  They've been staying just ahead of Intel in
the performance areas of late (not so in some streaming media apps) and their
64bit and dual core tech is very nice and supposed to be better than Intel's.

Perhaps, but I tend to disagree.  Certainly, I am pained to see Apple
transition again, but it opens up interesting possibilities.

What would stop Apple (or someone else) from supporting Windows
running on these new machines.  In fact, if they wanted to really
push OSX they could support running Windows apps (ala. Classic)
directly in OSX.  Apple could very easily become the number 1 PC
maker in the industry period, and provide users with exceptionally
designed hardware across the board, with the option of running all
three major OSes (Windows, Linux, OSX).

It seems the biggest concern will be who will want to buy a Mac
between now and when these new machines come out.  Anyways, it is
better to see this than Apple not being able to get chips due to
demand from the XBox market.  And the crowd at the keynote had no
idea the demos were running on OSX on Intell, until Job's indicated
 such.  That is pretty seamless.
