Thanks for asking the question, I just bought Hexagon and I was pulling my
hairs looking for the render button.

Yes, Hexagon is only for modeling
Yes, you must import in Carrara (or any other 3D software like C4D, LW,
Truespace, Max, etc....) for lightning and rendering. You can apply UVs
in Hexagon and preparing your shading somains and even, some basic
shaders, but no rendering capabilities.

Most modeling functions of Hexagon are not present in Carrara at all.
