bones probl...I mean question 2005-05-24 - By MD
Back greetings,
i am attempting to animate a figure that moves somewhat like an inchworm moves.
i have the figure rigged with bones, because unlike an inchworm my figure has arms, a tail and a head that also need to be animated.
however, i am running into the same age-old carrara problem of being unable to pin down a bone (so that it does not move) while moving the main bone forward.
is this just going to be a permanent flaw in carrara's bone system? all (and I mean ALL) other 3DCG programs have this basic rigging problem solved.
i have tried IK, ternimators, target helpers, cursing and crying out to god and nothing works. as soon as i move the main bone the whole skeleton moves in some manner.
does anyone have a solution to this problem that is longer than a 2 second test animation?
