List of main bugs fixed:
* The Extract Fillet tool failed with an internal error in some cases. * On German systems, the text in menus and helps did not display properly. * The Bzier tool couldn't be accessed on Macintosh computers. * Multi view did not work properly with some graphic boards and mostly on Macintosh computers. * The 3D Text tool failed with an internal error when the bevel option was set for some fonts and some specific characters. * Entering numbers using the numerical pad didn't work on some types of keyboard. * After scaling or moving using the object property panel, the manipulator did not always update properly. * The manipulator did not move according to the current plane. * The Tweak tool remained active even after selecting one of the manipulator tools. * The Connect Points tool didn't work in some cases * The Tessellate tool (slice option) couldn't find the right cut path in some cases. * The Tessellation tool didn't work when trying to cut non planar faces. * In some cases, one of the views remained empty. * The scroll button of the text font pop-up menu did not work properly. * Files created by the incremental saving were not recorder in the list of recent files. * In some cases, the Carrara export of objects containing several shading domains created files that Carrara couldn't read. * Leaving the polygon tool by clicking on another tool failed with an internal error.
List of improvement and new features:
* The Extract Fillet tool now keeps the shading domains. * Sliders for entering numerical values were too sensitive. They have been replaced by spin buttons. A simple click adds/subtract the value of the step. Click and Drag to change the value continuously. * The manipulator was displayed on selections made on dynamic geometry shapes, whereas this type of selection cannot be edited by the manipulator. It is not displayed anymore. * The Tessellate tool has been improved to work on the smoothed shape instead of on the control shape. * Connect selections has been improved. * The diaplay of sub menus on Macintosh has been improved. * On Macintosh, keyboard shortcuts F9, F10, F11 and F12 have been changed to avoid conflicts with some system tools (Expos). "Command" has been added to each of these shortcuts. * Applying a texture domain to a Dynamic Geometry had no effect. Now it asks to collapse. * Highlighting has been improved in some cases. * A new entry in the help menu opens a PDF file showing the keyboard mapping of shortcuts. * It was not possible to set a Fillet radius to more than 100. This limitation has been removed. * Dissolve edges have been improved to remove unnecessary points
Frequently Asked Questions
- On Mac, the documentation does not contain any videos, how can I see them ? The default program used by Mac OS to display PDF files does not support embedded videos. You must open the Hexagon PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Here is how to do that: - Open a Finder and locate the Hexagon program icon. (usually in the Applications folder). - Right click on the icon (or Ctrl+click for single button mouse) to open a context menu. - Select Show package content.A new window appears. - Locate the folder Contents:MacOS:data:doc. - Open the file HexagonManualUS.pdf with Acrobat Reader. - If you want to copy the documentation somewhere else, don't forget to copy the data folder which contains all the videos.
- I can't find the models provided with Hexagon. Where are they installed ?
On Windows, the default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Eovia\Hexagon\. Models are installed in the application installation folder in the Model directory. If the Models are not there, reinstall Hexagon and make sure the Model package is selected.
On Macintosh: - Open a Finder and locate the Hexagon program icon. (usually in the Applications folder). - Right click on the icon (or Ctrl+click for single button mouse) to open a context menu. - Select Show package content. A new window appears. - Locate the folder Contents:MacOS:Models Library.
- On Windows, Hexagon randomly displays an Internal Error message box. Why is this ? This kind of problem often comes from a issue with the version of the graphics board driver. Hexagon uses the OpenGL library to display 3D objects. Updating the graphics board driver can eliminate this kind of problem. Updating a graphics driver is possible on Windows by downloading and installing the latest version available from the graphics board vendor's web site. On Macintosh, Apple distributes driver updates along with system updates. It is not possible to obtain drivers from other sources.
- Is my graphics board compatible with Hexagon?
Most modern graphics boards are compatible with Hexagon. We have tested the most common boards from ATI (9000 and X series) and NVIDIA (GeForce, Quadro and more recent). For most graphics boards, it is very important to update the graphics board driver to make sure Hexagon will run without any problem.
- On Macintosh, I have a 3 buttons mouse but I can't use the click-drag with the right button to pane as I do on PC. What can I do ?
The Mac operating system is designed for a single button mouse. It simulates the right button by sending a Control key down event as if you were holding the control key. This mode is not compatible with the event handling of Hexagon. A workaround consist of using the Ctrl-Alt-Left Button as a replacement. This problem requires Hexagon software's event handling to be changed and so these changes will be made in a future version.
