I assume you are talking about a sequence that is 2D animated (or
otherwise) video.

You can project it onto a plane, or the background, or backdrop.

Eovia has some tutorials about how to do this, you might want to look
at "shadow catching" in your manual, if that helps.

Now if you want to try to synch this as a model, I can only suggest
that you put it on a plane, and set the transparency to just enough to
see it.  That allows you to pose and animate whatever you need in the
background (foreground will be behind the object), so that you can see
what's going on.
