network render woes :( 2005-05-22 - By http://profiles.yahoo.com/cd_theresa
Back Pleas can someone help with this really anoying problem I have?
I have three machines:
machine 1 is the modem machine 01 ip adress
machine two 02 ip adress
machine 3 03 ip adress
I am using a firewire cable to connect machine 2 to machine 1
and a cross over network cable to connect machine 3 to machine 2
this was hard enough. they all use the cable modem on machine 1
machine 3 connects to the modem via a network bridge (if you know about firewire networking you will understand.
anyway all normal network activities work fine... using the internet network drives remoyte desktops...
but as soon as I come to network rendering, theres a problem.
i install carrara on machine 2 then render nodes on the other machines, set up my firewall properly to allow connections, make sure the files are shared properly. I have no extra plugins so thats not a problem.
so when I start to render I get n's and thats it I stop the render and I get the error message unable to connect to rendernode located on (01 ip) on port 5060
I have tried all sorts of settings, diferent ports manual ip to no avail, if the settings are default I get the nn's if I change the settings I get nothing
can anyone help?
