Re: avi texture mapping (Steps on How to Do It) 2005-05-22 - By ccoles_avengers
Back Hi Chris, Glen,
Actually Glen, your first instinct is usually the reason why textures can not be seen: the UVs need to be defined better. Sometimes the mapping options can make a difference, but if Chris is not seeing *anything*, then my first suspect would be the UVs.
Chris, go to the Vertex Modeler and insert a cube object there. The in the Properties tray, go to UV Map and select "Box Face" for mapping (it may take a bit to change from the default to box face). Then hit the "UV Editor" tab and you should see a box appear with a perfect grid of squares with red highlighted points. Now return to the Assembly Room and make sure you have the "Texture view" mode selected (last sphere in column to the right of the 3DView window).
You should see your AVI texure at this point applie to all the faces of the cube.
Now, if you want to have it show up on just one side, create a Layer List shader on the top layer and in next branch, set it to "Flat Mapping", and then choose the icon in the Flat Mapping Tab on the right-hand side that depicts covering "the entire object". Underneath that, change the branh to MultiChannel and in the Color channel select the other color you want to show on the cube.
Then set another "Flat Mapping" layer beneath it (last branch), and select the icon for the *side* that you want to show the AVI clip on. make sure Multichannel is selected beneath that, and in the Color channel, select Texture Map and load your AVI clip.
Well, hope that helps.
Cheers.
