Back Hi Sachiko and everyone else helping in this matter
Thanks for the suggestion about making the background just a little less than white. In the color picker I made the L : 98 % and kept the H: and S: 0 and I got this result

if I make the L: 100% then it shows as
http://www.dmontoya.com/img/Lab-R2.jpg
So it is exactly as you said. I can make the background color any other color without a problem, I haven't tried using the specular selection yet, but I image that if the specular is turning all white that is why it is showing up black in Illustrator too.
I also found out why I was getting the wacky colors when I saved sometimes to Illustrator.
The first to Jpegs are the same as this one below but originally I had a lot more lighting. After I turned the lighting down (I had about four lights pretty bright) the image looks like Lab-R3.

I also got rid of the infinite plane and just used a regular plane for the floor, Thanks for that suggestion Steve. So Now, I understand how the fill and lighting work a lot better thanks everyone. I just wonder if they are going to find out why the background color saves as Black when it is asigned 100% white.
Also, I hope they figure out why you need to use fill. Originally I just wanted to do what I was doing in VS 1 but have control of the line weight. Basically asigning the Object outline and having a white background. I first tried this and got a completely black image in the preview and in Illustrator. When you just use the Object Outline without FILL I can't get just an outline of the object with a white background. When you change the background color to white the preview then changes from all black to the proper image [white background with black lines] , but it still shows up in Illustrator as all black.
It doesn't matter what the lighting is or what file I use or if I create a new file, everytime I use Outline object without fills and with any color background in VS 2 I always get a 100% black image in Illustrator. I am using VS 2.1 on a PowerMac dual 1.25 G4 with 1.5 gb memory. Maybe I am still doing something wrong, I am very very much still a nuub at 3D. Thanks for all the help so far I'll use fills for now.
I thought about toon pro too. Cuz someone had suggested it before when I was trying to render in non-photorealistic but since I'm doing comic pages and might want to have a scene bigger or smaller in a different panel or page I think it might be better to use VectorStyle cuz then I can just make the vector to my liking without worring if I made the initial dpi big enough. My comic pages are high rez so it usually takes longer I think to render high rez images in non-photo then with VS.
Hope this is helping other people too. Thanks for the help so far again Dave :)))
