Importing Maya Camera Data into After Effects 5.5

Importing Maya Camera Data into After Effects 5.5

You don't NECESSARILY have to bake your camera animation for every
frame.  If you grouped your camera under a null, it also may not work.
What I recommend it creating a new camera, copying the camera settings,
and applying parent, or point & orient constraint, baking the animation
into the new camera, and exporting.  Another neat trick is to create
some locators for position reference for your objects in the scene.
Just be sure to call them "Null1, Null2, etc...".  This helps to
position your layers in AFX.  You have to be sure to save as a Maya 4.5
Ascii file.  You can use the script on highend3d by Ronnie M. to export
as a different version.

Subject: Importing Maya Camera Data into After Effects 5.5

I am completing a project where my camera flys over a circut board and
stops
on a chip to reveal a name for my opening titles in a film. I had
planned to
complete all the camera movement in After Effects but I know it will be
easier to view my camera track in Maya. I have animated camera movement
in
maya before but never imported the camera data into AE and was wondering
if
anyone has done this. I know AE cannot import camera pivot data and it
must
have a keyframe at every frame.

Has anyone had any experience with this.???

Cheers
Andrew Turner
