I second this whole-heartedly. 512 megs of RAM doesn't seem like a very lot
in this day and age. If you take a peek at task manager with and without
Carrara open and with and without a scene opened up you can age an idea of how
your
ram is being used. But I would say doubling what you have might not be a bad
idea.

As for the graphics card, that may also be a factor. I'm not familiar with
the card you have, but at this end I recently updated my graphics card and I am
sooooooo happy. I used to have a lot of trouble with bsods, etc. and nothing I
did seemed to help. Finally I seem to have hit upon a card that works well
with the system that I have. The system has been rock solid ever since and I am
amazed.

So, I think that adding RAM and checking your graphics card are definitely
two things that bear looking at.

Hi, Cahyono.

I might suggest doubling (at least) your Ram. With Carrara, or any 3D
program, on either platform, the amount of Ram you have devoted to it
will be the single largest factor (after CPU speed, of course) in
determining how large of a scene you can comfortably work with.

Just because a program will run with X amount of Ram doesn't mean that
it will run optimally with that amount. Ram's cheap: buy it and
install it; you can't go wrong.
