Ah ok,
I thought you wanted what you had filmed in front of background 3d
objects, as then you'd have to match a plane with alpha and point at...
If you only need foreground elements then backdrop will do the job...
But you were talking about compositing it together later in AF or
something, so then you just want to render the 3d elements in 1 or 2
layers(BG and FG), and the backdrop won't be used, or something like that?
I'd be very interested in hearing about results, as I've thought of
trying this kind of thing in Carrara myself...

Carl, I don't have any camera matching progs, so I can't really say
how well these things can be exported, I just know it's been discussed
that you can use fbx or bvh for it before...
Of course that would only export camera movements, and not camera lens
and lens changes...
But if you have another program (maybe XSI:Mod Tool can read the
exported files), you can probably check timing of camera lens changes...

Hope your compositing works out ok...
