Wow, I think I am getting a clearer picture of what you all overseas
are having to deal with now.

This may be a little OT, but I am just trying to understand something:
did switching to the Euro really help European economies?  I never
liked the idea of the Euro, but that is only because of *personal*
reasons;  the outcome doesn't really have a direct affect on me...at
least, not at the moment.

But I was wondering how Europeans really felt about switching over to
this currency.  From what I can see it doesn't sound like it is really
working?  But then again, my knowledge is limited in this area, so any
enlightenment would be appreciated. [a short synopsis would be fine,
however, because I know we don't want to get too OT with this :) ]
