As Brian says, it is a bit different than what is shown in Hexagon.
Here are some links to videos demonstrating how the topology brush in
Silo works:

http://www.nevercenter.com/tutorials/videos/

Both Silo and Hexagon look to be very good modelers.  I think price
and C4/5 integration will determine which one I make my primary
modeler.  Silo is pretty good on price, but lacking C4 integration
(or much hope of it).  Of course it works as well as any external
modeler in terms of pulling in models into C4.  Hexagon does look to
be a contender for Silo.  But Silo is also releasing some new
features next week, and one thing Hexagon has against it is that it
isn't currently available.

As a software developer myself I understand the balance between the
due diligence in a quality product and establishing an iterative
process.  The Silo folks seem to have found a good balance to getting
product out for use and updating features iteratively for those who
download the product.  I've come to believe that it makes sense to
build the product release cycle upon releasing frequent minor
releases via download and major releases centered around pushing
product to store shelves.  Eovia is getting better at this, as
witnessed by their minor releases to C4 actually introducing some new
features.  But I'd give the edge here to Silo.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of both the next rev of Silo and
the first release of Hexagon.  Given this pair of modeling tools I'll
quite likely forget about checking into Luxology's Modo (which is
more pricey).  Of course we will have to see where Hexagon's price
lands.
