Back Hiya Patrick,
Thanks for the info! Quick question (if it's possible) - in Amapi, you couldn't really crease an edge like you can in Carrara's VM - is this possible (or even necessary) in Hex?
Cheers,
Glen

The following is a quick look at a few features in Hexagon from a user's point of view after 3 weeks beta testing. Hexagon is as you know is for polygon modeling. It has an "Amapi feel" to it but is much more intuitive. To me it is built for maximum speed- it will cut modeling time considerably with all the new quick ways of doing laborious tasks.
If you think of how Amapi extrusion/ sweep tool is much more power full than Carrara's. Well there is a new "on the fly" way to extrude/sweep which allows each section to be instantly scaled, not just proportionally- but you can constrain it to an axis, not only that but you can grab the scale tool and nominate the edge to scale from! Each time you sweep/ extrude you can rotate it "on the fly", or even grab the rotate tool and set the pivot point. Hexagons new sweep/extrude method is basically Amapi's on "steroids" or Carrara's on "super steroids"
There has been a lot cool work gone into new "edge tools" These let you instantly "on the fly" add edge loops, create fillets, reposition edges etc.
You can now take a smoothed mesh and drop back down to the unsmoothed mesh.
You cut and paste faces and edges at will (like working with clip art).
There is a new "target weld" tool to weld precisely where you want the edge or point to end up.
There are some new selection tools which allow fast ways to select connected edges. One way is called "Paint mode" which allows you to just swipe your cursor over the points, edges and faces without clicking each one, one at a time.
You can designate domain areas with different material colours.
Anyway this will give you an idea- but it still can't make the actual model for you! LOL
