I noticed that about Carrara. Its not very good with high poly
models... Choking as you say. I purchased the baker plugin so that I
could use Zbrush normal maps. My plan was to import a lower poly
model and 'make up' the detail using an exported normal map. Not
ideal and usless for close up shots. I will let you know how I get
on when I get Zbrush in May.

I dont really know why Carrara is so clunky with such high poly
models. Saying that I own Truespace 6.6 and its worse. lol. The only
software I own that can handle higher counts is Cinema4d CE+ but I
prefer Carrara.

I dont have Carrara 4 but I am assuming from what I had seen with
the demo that you want to animate facial features. Someone maybe
could correct me if this is wrong but cant you create groups as such
in Zbrush that could be read by Carrara as shading domains? That way
you only need to select the shading domain for top lip or whatever
and do whatever morphs are needed. Sort of speaking into the air
really but might help spark an idea.
