Re: Render node setup ? 2005-04-26 - By Eric Winemiller

I had to make change the first port on my network set up (I selected 6000, for no reason). I also had to open the ports in my Macs' firewalls. Here's a short check list I go through.
1. Install latest render node + plug-ins. Install the latest patch on the master. 2. Check to make sure that the first port in the preferences (File|Preferences) matches on all the nodes and master. 3. Open up the firewall on all participants for those 3 ports that Carrara needs. Get them from the preferences on the master. If you need more details on how to do this, let me know. I've got some screen shots I made when helping someone else. 4. Launch all the render nodes. 5. Launch Carrara on the master, load the file in batch queue, set it to use network rendering and then launch.
For a test I usually create a large terrain and turn up the rendering details. That's usually a long enough render for all the nodes to turn on.
