Not a chance. The market for vector tools is owned by Illustrator. The best
parts of Freehand, if any, will be assimilated. Same with Fireworks too. As
a matter of fact, Adobe will probably only keep 2 Macromedia names products:
Flash and Dreamweaver (with the possibility of Cold Fusion - but I'll assume
they'll spin that off or sell it outright)

There was only 1 reason why Adobe bought Macromedia and it's for flash.
Everything else is a bonus. Look for Adobe to integrate flash much more
tightly with Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects. Look for
Flash to gain 3D capability in the near future too (think Atmosphere and AE
3D within flash).

Adobe's future hinges on PDF, SWF and PSD.

Everyone is speculating what will happen with their favorite apps. Looking
at them side by side it's pretty easy to tell what will stay and what will
go (these are not my preferred apps just the course that I think they will
most likely take):

Freehand vs. Illustrator: Illustrator wins
Fireworks vs. ImageReady: ImageReady wins
Flash vs. Future SVG technology: Flash wins
Dreamweaver vs. GoLive: Dreamweaver wins
Photoshop vs. ?????: Photoshop always wins

On another note. I think this statement is true for a few reasons.

1) relatively cheap entry price into the world of 3D

2) While not considered a "main stream" 3D app by a majority of graphic
designers and most definitely not by 3D designers, in the right hands this
tool is very powerful and is capable of yielding outstanding results.

3) its true strength is in single image rendering and nothing else. For
animation there are MUCH better tools for the same price or a bit more (re:
Cinema 4D & Lightwave). Tools that integrate with Final Cut, Shake, After
Effects, Premiere, Combustion and Smoke so much better.  Not saying the
Carrara can't do animation (c'mon, even Bryce does animation) but I've yet
to see something real, something professional be delivered to my computer
screen or TV that says "done with Carrara Pro".
