It's not possible to move them carefully in Carrara 1.1. :-)
Holding down the shift key to constrain movement in one
direction didn't work until Carrara 2 came on the scene,
sad to say.

The technique described by Markd is a good way to
achieve beveled corners, but you will have to move
the parts of the sphere using numerical entry of
distances in the Properties Tray in Carrara 1.1.
