Don,

Here is a free download for TS version 3.2 - By downloading this free
full version of 3.2 you become a subscriber, that's how I was able to
afford version 4.3 which is what I use now. I plan on earning "winning"
version 6 sometime in the future :)

Anyway, here is the link -

Don't know if it will help you or not.

Too bad you can't afford tS ver6.5; then you would have nearly
EVERYTHING you had
with MAX. Well, just save up for ver7.0, whenever that's released. I
would have
to guess sometime early-middle 2005. To be honest, I had tS since ver
4.3 and
had one heck of a time with the GUI. I wasn't really able to model very
well
(still can't, actually) until I took a modelling class at my local
community
college two years ago where they used MAX. I still prefer the
traditional drop-
down menus of Windows that MAX uses, but I was able to make more sense
of basic
modelling skills and transfer them to TS thanks to hands-on instruction.

I would suggest getting ALL of the "paks" that you can afford. If you do
a lot
of work with stills and post processing layers in PhotoShop or
PaintShopPro, iPak
is very valuable. I know you said that you didn't do much animation, but
for
general non-IK animation, iPak and After Effects can do amazing things
in half
the time it would normally take. They don't even mention this use for it
at
the Caligari site. Also, primalitch.com has tons of stuff for TS, some
very
inexpensive and some FREE. The stuff from CK Game Factory that they sell
there
are all useful and VERY reasonably priced. ShaderLab2 is a DEFINITE MUST
HAVE!
Also check out virtualcaledonia.
