Good one, Dave. I do think it would backlight the atmosphere in dramatic
fashion as it rounded the planet (maybe a round plane with a transparent
edge and a change in ambient light to make it brighten?), and create a
brightly illuminated crescent as it rose higher. Did you use a
spotlight?

Always wanted to try this, but I could never figure out how to make it
look realistic. Still needs some tweaking in terms of the animation
timing, but as a proof of concept, I think I figured it out.
