For clouds in carrara, do you only get one cloud per click of the cloud button? How do you get a bunch of nice, fluffy clouds in there? Tina

Don't know. when you try to adjust the model are you in the vertex room or spline room?
I'd have thought that there would have been shader domains in that object.
Try a layers list for a master shader, then add a basic layer. Look at the "apply this to" box and see what layers are active. You do need to apply the shader to the object first (even as a default master shader) and then add layers, or (IIRC) it won't know what domains exist.
