Glen,

I think you shouldn't spend your time schmoozing
ad agencies. I think the folks who need your
services are small manufacturing companies;
companies too small to hire someone to do CAD
work but who need illustrations of their *proposed*
products. Every town has a bunch of these small
companies. I'll bet you can get work from them
if they know you can make products "real" for them.

In my own business I can tell you that, even though
3D work isn't the bulk of what I do, nothing receives
more praise from my clients. They see their product
come to life and they get wet all over.  :-)

In the past two months, I've done Carrara illustrations
for four such companies: A book publisher who wants
to see how their book will look before it goes to the
printer, a manufacturer who wants to promote a free
brochure in a trade magazines, a builder who wants to
sell homes before they are built, and a tool manufacturer
who is trying to raise money to introduce a new power
tool to the marketplace.
