The team is very responsive. I've posted specific problems at *least* twice on this list and was contacted offlist by Eovia support staff. There are still some crashes, but I can't singlely blame Carrara (might be a QT codec or osX or...).

On the contrary, Eovia has moved in a more "open" direction with emphasis on Carrara importing more 3D formats (Poser, Cad, LWO... many included in the PRO version) , and Eovia distributing some 3rd-party products. Improvements like Realistic Skies and the new terrain modeller are totally new features rather than encremental updates on Antoine's original 4-Elements plug-in.

Fast/good renderer. Familiar interface. Reasonable price.

Caustics are inconsistant from frame to frame = useless in animations. Assembly Room and Shader Room won't play-nice with each other (including inaccurate previews, disappearing controls, etc). Complex scenes are still unweildy (there is definitely a practical "ceiling" to Carrara scenes), although several plug-ins from INAGONI .COM attempt to help (namely: SWAP, REPLICATE, and BAKER) if I could only get a good workflow going....

Sorry, I'm more about the architectural. There were recently some posts about an artist who uses Carrara+AnythingGrooves to render very detailed Z-Brush displacement models....
