As a sidenote on the matrix-effect,
here's a little something I coded back in 2003:
anim.chickensoft.com/animations/matrix.jar
It requires that you have java 1.4 or later.
If you run it on a command line you can use command line arguments to
set the number of rows and columns.
java -jar matrix.jar columns rows
or
java -jar matrix.jar columnsAndRows
The second one with only one argument makes a square system (remember
a row is higher than a column is wide, so you're better off using the
first one).
You can use javaw as well, as it runs in a window,
or just double click the .jar if you want to run it at the default setup.
