Axis Constraint 2005-03-29 - By William C. Hellman

Mike,
I believe that it is an undocumented change, I run in to the same problem. I suggest that you try playing around with Axis Constraint to get what you want.
just as a test try this...
start with a new empty Doc and insert a cube & change the size to (X .50, Y 5.0 , Z 2.5) and add an Axis Constraint (if you notice the ring move the object on the Z Axis).
Let say we want to tilt the cube forward, In order for us to do this we need to type 90.0 in the X Axis text box, then move the Angle Guide down or into the negative numbers.
I hope this helps you out, Turk_WLF

Hi all!
Been working on a humanoid rig for C4 and setting constraints for the bones and came across this oddity:
In the Carrara 4 manual on page 300 (as the pages themself are numbered), there's a screen shot of the axis controls and there's a set of 3 radio buttons : one for each axis. However in the program itself, there's text boxes for the three axis. I've tried to make sense of the text boxes and there's no semblance of control of any kind. I type in a value in the X box and then go to the ring and move the diamond around and it rotates on the Y axis.
So, I'm staying away from the Axis constraint.
Is this a bug in the program? Undocumented change? I'm currently using CPro 4.1.1 and it's been remarkably stable and robust. But for the un-updated portions of the manual and things like what I described for the Axis constraint things would be joyous within my little 3D world.
Does anybody know what's up with the Axis, or how it's now used...
TIA
