Has anyone modeled a volcano? Lava textures 2005-03-26 - By staigermanus

Ok, with the new look I don't find messages containing 'lava' and I don't know if this thread is still looking for a solution, but I thought I'd try something with an animated movietexture. Rather than animating geometry or particles, it's just a solid piece of vertex model (though you could also think of animating that) and the magic is done in the texture. I created an animated texture in PD Pro. Still rendering some 3D with it as I type this but preliminary small renderings look decent IMHO.

Any thoughts?
