I just finished an animation and found that between getting multiple sounds (especially if you use more than one track or if it does not start at frame 1) it is much easier to use a 3rd party tool to combine Carrara rendered movies...allows for much more flexibility and you can do Carrara renders in pieces; especially good for longer renders as you risk losing hours of rendering with a file error near the end (happened to me once after 14 hours of rendering).
You can make blended A-B transparency transitions to smooth any otherwise abrupt image changes.
