How best to do text labels on basic objects?

I'm not sure it's the best way, Vince, but
I always create a text label outside of
Carrara in Photoshop or similar program
and use FLAT projection to place it on the
cube's full face.

The only problem with doing this is that
you MUST make sure you create the text
in the color you want with the background
color on the same image and that it MUST
be created in the same proportion as the
face of the cube.

If I want a bump for it, I will also create a
black text on white background image of
the same dimensions and place that in
the Bump channel.


You can also create a text image
and a transparency image with the same
dimensions and then just use a rectangular
layer. That gives you the flexibility of changing
the cube's dimensions after you place it, but
it also introduces the clungy transparency
issue of placing a label on the cube's face.
