It sounds like you are trying to open a group in
the modeling room. Is there a small triangle beside
the object name that you can turn down? When
you try to go to the modeling room with a group,
you see nothing when you get there.
You said, however, that you have it separated
into polyhedric volumes so that might not be
the problem.
