Mechanical Spider Help

Hello all,

More on my mechanical spider.

I have my body prepared according to my sketches. They
are three plates bolted together, sitting on a  round
oval underbelly of the spider, these will ultimately
be chrome plates. Right now they are fairly thick, I
cant really make them realistic circiut boards,
because i have never seen one that thick before. All 8
legs will be coming from this section of the spider
and they will contain hydraulics.

Here is my delema, what kind of ideas would you share,
if you were working from this body. I am looking for
some ways to accomidate the legs, shrink the plates,
but still have a way to keep the "ovalish square" look
of the body the way it is now.

I would like some ideas/suggestions.
