Mechanical Spider Help

Just to clear some things up...

The front and back of the spider will be the "tipped"
end. The Legs will come out the sides which are
currently Retangular "Flats".

How can I get the "tipped" ends to come down to a more
gradual tip, (giving me the oval look) rather then a
sharp tip like it is now...
