Ok, Help! 2004-07-03 - By David Wilson
Back I found Solidify, but it didn't do what I needed. (It will however, come in handy later.)
It's a curious problem, maybe I should try to describe it some.
Basically, I was trying to build an ice tea glass as a prop for Poser. I took a basic cylinder, stretched it out a little, copied it, scaled the copy down just a little and Boolean subtracted it from the first cylinder, leaving behind a big hole. After some cosmetic alterations to make it more drinking-glass like, (which don't seem to affect the end result in creating this problem) I try to export it using the luuv plugin so I can have an OBJ file for my trouble. The plugin tells me that there are holes in the model, do I want to proceed? The thing is I can't /see/ any holes, at least nothing I can so identify. Saving anyway and importing it to Poser, my drinking glass is there, but for some reason the open end isn't open anymore, it has a face stretched across it. Importing it back into trueSpace yields the same result. The COB file doesn't look out of the ordinary at all.
No matter how many times I follow this procedure, I get the same result. Obviously, something is happening that I can't recognize, although I haven't exhausted all my efforts in trying to find the problem yet. I had hoped by finding the "Fix Holes" plugin I think I remember I could resolve this faster, but it looks like I'm going to have to keep going down this path.
Did I describe this well enough? I can take some screen shots if it'll help...
