Siggraph Question 2004-07-01 - By Dave Angelini
Back Yes...it is that time of year again when we all ask "Are you going to Siggraph this year?". Well, as luck would have it, business puts me in San Jose on 8/9 and the conference runs from 8/8 to 8/12. So for some minimal cash, I can make it down there to actually see what it is all about. But before I decide, I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has gone before. Given that I will probably be able to be at the conference only on 8/10, 8/11 and 8/12, I am looking for a recommendation to either register for the "Conference Select" programs ($220) or just the "Exhibitor's Plus" ($50). The difference between the two is that the Conference Select program allows you into the Electronic Theater (Matinee only) and a bunch of short talks in the Sketches section (some of which is behind the scene work from Shrek, The Matrix, Van Helsing, etc.). You also get a CD with the Conference Select program. So is it worth the extra $170? Is Siggraph even worth attending at all? Thanks, Dave Angelini
