Yes...it is that time of year again when we all ask "Are you going to
Siggraph this year?".
Well, as luck would have it, business puts me in San Jose on 8/9 and
the conference runs from 8/8 to 8/12. So for some minimal cash, I can
make it down there to actually see what it is all about.
But before I decide, I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has
gone before. Given that I will probably be able to be at the conference
only on 8/10, 8/11 and 8/12, I am looking for a recommendation to either
register for the "Conference Select" programs ($220) or just the
"Exhibitor's Plus" ($50). The difference between the two is that the
Conference Select program allows you into the Electronic Theater
(Matinee only) and a bunch of short talks in the Sketches section (some
of which is behind the scene work from Shrek, The Matrix, Van Helsing,
etc.).
You also get a CD with the Conference Select program.
So is it worth the extra $170?
Is Siggraph even worth attending at all?
